EDGE Employment Essentials is a new employment program offered by EDGE Skills Centre to help permanent residents and refugees preferably with CLB of 4 or less find employment by helping clients overcome/manage barriers and by matching client’s skills to work opportunities. Services Offered:
Self-Discovery is a 2 week course designed to help clients tap into their pre-existing skills by reflecting on life experiences, values and personality. Whether or not the clients have formal education or job experience, they will discover that they have many things to offer the job market as they build a new life in Canada.
Barriers to Success is a 2 week course which explores client’s short-term and long-term goals while understanding underlying challenges they may face. Through a network of support, clients are encouraged to equip themselves with problem solving strategies so they can take the next step towards achieving their goals.
Computer classes offered will develop and improve client’s computer knowledge and skills that will help them advance in their career. Clients will be able to generate job related documents, such as Resume, cover letters, thank you letters etc. Clients will be able to independently search and apply for employment online.
Employment Counselling includes training for workplace readiness in the area of career exploration, job searching, and self-marketing in both one-to-one meetings and workshops. Clients will receive support to develop their skills in resume/cover letter writing and preparing for interviews. Individualized action plan to connect clients with volunteering and work opportunities that match their skill set.
